Dr. Marisa Pamplona heads the Conservation Science Department and Research Laboratory at the Deutsches Museum in Munich since 2014. She investigates production techniques, degradation processes and conservation methods in objects made of plastics.
She studied Conservation and Restoration at the New University of Lisbon and completed her PhD in 2008 in Engineering Sciences at the Technical University of Lisbon in close collaboration with the Central Laboratory of the Bavarian State Department of Historical Monuments. She worked as conservation scientist for the Rathgen Research Laboratory – National Museums Berlin, from 2008 to 2013, focusing her research on preventive conservation.
