During the 1950s the Biennale di Venezia was a place of close encounter between applied and fine arts. Like Henry Moore, Ercole Barovier’s designs followed the fluent form. With Murano’s hot glassmaking techniques Dino Martens was able to achieve an artistic freedom comparable to action painting.
