100 Poster Battle

100 Poster Battle – Design students from Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Art guest at Neue Sammlung

“100 Days, 100 Posters” – taking this as their motto, some 50 students from Dortmund and Cairo spent a semester exploring the potential of poster design. For them, “The 100 Poster Battle” meant designing a new poster every day, inspired by current events and social debates.
The objective behind the project was to enable students to experiment with all manner of techniques and forms of expression and tease out the limits of design. Two focal points were the topics of tourism and gentrification, which all the students had to address.
This resulted in a vibrant exchange of ideas, views, and draft proposals.

The results have already been showcased in Lisbon and Dortmund and will now go on display in Neue Sammlung in a prominent place next to the typecase at the entrance to the design section.
The presentation features a selection of 108 posters in hanging textile banners that the students themselves curated. The students were invited to exhibit their designs in the context of the major installation Paula Scher – Type is Image that has been on show since June at Die Neue Sammlung – The Design Museum.
