Ludo van Halem is an art historian specialising in Dutch 20th century fine and applied arts. He has published regularly on this topic and has curated various exhibitions. From 1995 he was the senior curator at Stedelijk Museum Schiedam. Since 2008 he is curator of 20th century art at Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. As such he is responsible for collection of 20th century fine and applied arts. He co-designed the new 20th century galleries which were opened after the renovation of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam in 2013.
