After graduating with high honours in Conservation Studies at the Antwerp University College (2000), Kristel De Vis followed an internship at the Dombauhütte of Cologne (Germany) where she specialised in medieval glass and 19th century painting techniques. In 2001 she lead the conservation worshop at Glasmalerei Peters (Germany) dealing with several stained-glass projects located in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France.
Since 2006 she has been a member of the teaching staff at Conservation Studies (University of Antwerp). She is currently coordinating the teaching team and responsible for lectures in the courses ‘Decision making and Design’, ‘Communication and disclosure’, ‘Collection management’ and ‘Material Science (glass)’. She obtained her doctorate of philosophy degree in conservation-restoration in May, 2014 with her essay entitled: “The consolidation of architectural glass and dalle de verre, assessment of selected adhesives”. On this topic several publications are in her name.
